Old “machete” Gavilan

Brand: E. Gavillan
Model/Type: Machete
Blade: Drop point, Carbon Steel.
Tang Stamp: “E. Gavillan”, and a Feline figure
Blade decoration: Etched landscape with the lwords: “RDO DE TOLEDO”
Handle: Horn (bovine) with steel pommel and bolster
Lock: Lockback / Slipjoint
Origin: Santa Cruz de Mudela, Spain
Dated: 1940-1950
Bio: “this is a machete Gavilan, one of the best workshops of Santa Cruz de Mudela.

They began in the nineteenth century, founded by Augustine and continued the Gavilan saga, untill the Spanish civil war period more or less, then passing the brand to his two nephews: Eusebio and Agustin.

I think yours is E.Gavilán and above the stamp has a cat. You can date it in the forties or fifties. – It is a very sought after piece.”

“Muy buena pieza, felicidades por la captura.

Es un machete de Gavilán, uno de los mejores talleres de Santa Cruz de Mudela.
Empezaron en el siglo XIX, fundado por Agustín Gavilán y continuó la saga Segundo Gavilán, que lo dejó cuando la guerra civil mas o menos, pasando la marca a manos de sus dos sobrinos, Eusebio y Agustín.

Creo que la tuya es de E.Gavilán y que encima del cuño tiene un felino. Puedes datarla en la década de los cuarenta o cincuenta.

Es una pieza muy buscada.
